Cement Removal on a Matte Sepang Blue 2014 Audi R8 V10 Plus

A good customer called us in regard to his 2014 Audi R8 V10 Plus finished in factory Matte Sepang Blue. He mentioned that the car was covered in concrete and wasn't sure what to do. We quickly scheduled a consultation to see how bad the damage was.

We realized that this was going to be a huge undertaking. Every surface of the vehicle had concrete on it; wheels and calipers, glass, plastic trims, carbon fiber side blades and engine compartment pieces, and of course the very sensitive Matte Sepang Blue paint. The car was parked by a nearby construction site where they were either mixing or cutting concrete. The dust settled on the car and once it rained, we were left with this. A total repaint for this car can only be done by two shops in New Jersey, the pricing for a repaint was starting at $15-20,000.

A small glimpse to the concrete damage on the paint.

Once we established the products and steps that we needed to use to return this beautiful car back to her former glory, we set to the long and delicate task of removing the concrete. We began by removing the carbon fiber components in the engine bay for proper cleaning and polishing, as well as to remove any other dirt and contamination from the engine bay prior to reinstalling those pieces. From there, the wheels and rear spoiler were removed and cleaned up. While the wheels were off, we tackled the wheel wells, calipers and suspension components before sealing all those surfaces to protect them from future damage.

Once the tight and hard to reach areas were corrected, we could turn our attention to the painted surfaces, plastic trims and glass. We used a new method which worked incredibly well. I can't divulge the specifics, but it swiftly and safely handled the problem, and removed the concrete without damaging the very sensitive and expensive Matte paint.

From here, the glass was polished out and sealed, and the Matte paint was sealed with a special product specifically designed for Matte paints. Said and done, this amazing car was in our care for about 12 days, received around six washes and a lot of love from the Spa. She was returned to perfect condition and left protected for many months of driving. Enjoy the pictures that follow. Autoluxe Motor Spa....when only the best will do!
